13 Movies to Watch During Halloween Season

Are you in quarantine feeling nostalgic for last year’s Halloween bash? Are you also bummed out about not being able to go out trick o’ treating this year? Well, worry no more. We have the next best thing to do: Binge on some classic movies to lift your spirits.

Grab those costumes from pre-Covid years and let the marathon begin!

1. Hocus Pocus

Nothing like some badass witches to set the tone right. And how good did Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Middler look as witches?!

2. Halloweentown

A classic Disney Halloween movie complete with witches, goblin, vampire, and much more.. Halloweentown had inclusivity and acceptance of every creature so we stan!

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Jack Skellington and Sandy Claws are two puns that still have me in stitches. The two biggest holidays of the year in one movie, I mean that’s a recipe for success.

4. Twitches

Before Tia and Tamera Mowry got their own reality TV series, they starred in a movie about twin sisters separated at birth who were royal witches. It was a Disney Original so needless to say, there were tears, love and laughter. That moon necklace was a dream.

5. The Craft

The age-old tale of outcasts forming a clique which turns out to be cooler than the rest of the school. Sign me up because changing hair colors and levitating sounds rad.

6. Ghostbusters (1984)

“If there’s something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!!” If you did not sing this line, you have to watch this absolute cult classic and that song will be stuck like gum in your head.

7. Coraline

Well, I’m not kidding when I say this movie gave me the heebie-jeebies. Something doesn’t sit right when you picture buttons instead of eyes. The movie is just amazing and Miss Coraline’s name is so wonderful, very goth.

8. Casper

The momentary happiness all the kids got when Casper was turned into a human is hands down the most bittersweet experience. That rollercoaster to the basement was pretty fun. Can we get it to Disneyland ASAP?

9. The Addams Family

Cult classic series to binge on Halloween. The 1991 movie was especially perfect because of Christina Ricci’s stellar performance as a dead-on-the-inside, Wednesday Addams.

10.  Beetlejuice

Living in your own country home rent-free and out of radar sounds like a great life. Befriending a goth teen who is the only form of human contact is the cherry on top.

11.  Carrie (1976)

Want something more spine-chilling? Your search ends here.

12.  Child’s Play

Despite having comedy bits within the franchise, Chucky still gave everyone sleepless nights. The fear of dolls that was instilled in many kids, started from this very movie. I’m just going ahead and saying that Chucky walked so that Annabelle could run.

13.  Friday the 13th

Man, this Jason guy didn’t die for 12 movies. This slasher horror franchise is more sci-fi than the “Hollow Man” franchise. Jason, honey, please consider changing your career.

Well, those are 13 among the many many movies you can watch during Halloween. We hope that these movies help kill your boredom while quarantining. Happy Halloween!
